There’s no doubt that creating your own success plan plays a crucial role in helping you stay on track to ensure you’re progressing toward your ultimate goals. Without it, you’re simply spinning your wheels and not giving yourself a fair shot at success.
You will be as successful as you plan to be.
This is especially true with internet marketing because nothing is left to chance. It becomes a numbers game where you are constantly trying to increase your traffic and conversion rates while minimizing costs and maximizing sales. You’ll be split testing different ads and websites, analyzing the results and making adjustments to continuously improve your results.
It will soon be very apparent what your numbers need to be in order to reach the level of success you desire. By creating your own success plan, you are able to break down your path to success into a science. You can map out what and when you need to perform specific action steps that will produce the numbers you need so you can hold yourself accountable and reach success in a smooth and predictable manner.
The question then becomes, “What action steps do I need to take?” Well that’s exactly what you’ll find within this guide. However, it’s important that you create your OWN personalized plan based on the teachings you’ll find here. This is because you know how much time you’ll have to commit to your business, what you’re good at, and why you’re doing this in the first place. It’s a way you can personalize this plan to you and your situation so you can hold yourself accountable and track your progress.
The first step I suggest is to create your own ‘Dream Board’, which is the fundamental building block to creating your success plan. But before doing so, it’s important that you to understand the difference between dreams and goals.
Dreams are things that you wish for – things that you enjoy thinking about but don’t really know when or if they’ll happen. Goals, on the other hand, are specific things you have decided you will accomplish within a clearly defined period of time.
For example, “Someday I wish to own a luxury resort” is a dream. “Within 2 years, I will have 1 million set aside to start building my 5 star resort in Cabo San Lucas.” You see, goals must be measureable, which allows you to know when you have achieved them.
Here’s another important point: Your goals come from your dreams. Inspiring dreams will give you energy to set inspiring goals, which, in turn, will help you to make the changes necessary to transform your life. So…
If you’re going to dream, DREAM BIG!
Now that you understand the difference, let’s start creating your dream board.
To complete this exercise, just tap into your imagination and write down any words or phrases that come to mind when you think about being successful. Even better, draw or cut out images on what it will feel like and look like for YOU to be successful.
Ask yourself the following questions:
* What and who are you grateful for? (It starts with an attitude of gratitude!)
* What will you feel like?
* What will you look like?
* What will you have?
* Where will you be living?
* What will you be driving? (if that’s important to you)
* Where will you travel?
* Who will you be becoming?
* Who will you be sharing life with?
The more you can connect on an emotional level to what you are writing and selecting for images… the more vivid this will become, and the more effective it will be for you.
Relax. Let loose and start dreaming! This is an extremely uplifting exercise and most of us have never done it due to the conditioning and the programming we go through in today’s society… so most of us have to dig deep to figure out what we truly want out of this experience called – LIFE.
Once you have tapped into this creative energy, get a large poster board and start designing your destiny. Even better, think ahead and purchase a large cork board; that way when you successfully achieve your current visions, you can remove the pictures and tabs and replace them with new ones.
When you are finished with your creation, you should hang it in your workstation because it will be your daily motivation and inspiration.
Now that you’ve completed your Dream Board, you now have an idea of what you want in your life. It’s now time to develop your game plan that will get you there.
Developing Your Goals – By clearly stating your goals, identifying reasons why those goals are important to you, and by writing down three old, “unauthorized” patterns of action and three new, effective ones… you’re clearly starting out on your “Journey To Destiny.”
Your next exercise is to compose sentences stating what you wish to accomplish and set a deadline that you will be transforming your wishes into goals. Once you clarify your goals, be sure to read them first thing in the morning and again at night.
In your “Success Journal” (you do have one, right?), write down 5 things that you will achieve over the course of your next 90 days.
Simple…like this:
1. _____________________________________
2. _____________________________________
3. _____________________________________
4. _____________________________________
5. _____________________________________
Reasons - Let’s take it a little deeper. Your next exercise is to identify your reasons for achieving your 90 day goals. What I’ve discovered is that the more clear your goals are, about WHY these goals are important to you, the more likely you will succeed. It’s not complicated to identify the reasons for making the changes to improve your finances and your future. There are countless reasons, so write down the ones that have meaning to you.
Again, in your “Success Jounal”, please write down 3 reasons why you have decided to achieve your 90 day goals.
1. _________________________________________
2. _________________________________________
3. _________________________________________
Transforming Patterns Of Action – To complete this exercise, just identify three habits you have now, which you’ll need to transform in order for you to move forward and become successful.
For example, if you’re a procrastinator, you will write down a “to do” list everyday. If you are used to being told what to do, you will have to transform that habit to being more self reliant by learning the daily activities to do and then holding yourself accountable.
Let’s get back to our “Success Journals”, and write down 3 patterns of action you need to transform in order to successfully achieve your 90 day goals.
1. __________________________________________
2. __________________________________________
3. __________________________________________
Next, create this list on a document on your computer and print it out… then post it where you can see it everyday. It will serve as a constant reminder of where you are headed.
After completing these exercises, you’re already giving yourself a tremendous advantage over your competition. Trust me when I say that hardly anyone actually takes the time to stop and think about what it is that they really want and why. And then by creating your own plan of action on how to get there is just setting yourself up for success right from the beginning.
